Appearance: White to pale yellow crystalline powder; oil-soluble

Usage / Properties / Application

It is valuable in broad-spectrum sunscreen systems for photoaging defense, pigmentation prevention, and daily UV protection, but it is known to have photostability limitations, so it is commonly formulated with stabilizers or complementary UV filters.

In sunscreen testing, formulas containing 3% photostabilized avobenzone showed superior attenuation of UVA wavelengths above 360 nm, and adding photostabilized avobenzone increased UVA protection factor values nearly threefold.
