Mechanistically, it is positioned as an “omni-antioxidant” active that can scavenge reactive species, selectively chelate iron, help protect melanocytes from UV-related ongoing DNA damage/CPD formation, and support extracellular-matrix integrity.

In a randomized, double-blind, vehicle-controlled clinical study, 1% Acetyl Zingerone used twice daily for 8 weeks significantly reduced average wrinkle severity, total wrinkle volume, pigment intensity, and redness intensity versus placebo, with good tolerability.
