Usage / Properties / Application

mainly used for UVB protection, absorbing approximately 280–320 nm and approved in the EU at concentrations up to 10%.

Scientific review data report its maximum absorption wavelength at around 308 nm with a molar absorption coefficient of 24,355, supporting its role as an SPF-building UVB absorber in sunscreen and daily UV-protective skincare systems.

It is best positioned for sun-care oils, emulsions, outdoor SPF products, and formulations needing lightweight UVB protection, usually combined with UVA filters such as Avobenzone, DHHB, or BEMT to achieve broader-spectrum protection.
